On December 16th, with an investment of 2 billion yuan, the Aptiv PLC Connector System New Factory (Phase I) project was completed in Wuhan Economic Development Zone, which is undoubtedly another important milestone in Aptiv PLC's development history in China.
This factory will focus on the manufacturing of new energy vehicle products, including high-voltage charging docks, high-voltage connectors, and other product categories. A high-voltage connector is a functional component that connects, disconnects, or converts circuits and optical channels through electrical or optical signals and mechanical forces. With the rapid development of electrification and intelligence in automobiles, the demand for high-voltage connectors is increasing day by day. According to the plan, the factory is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025. Its products not only meet the needs of domestic manufacturers, but will also be exported to overseas markets.

The importance of automobiles as a key downstream application market for connectors is self-evident. According to Bishop&Associates, the automotive industry has become the second largest field for connector applications, accounting for 21.9% of the global connector market in 2022. The institution predicts that by 2025, the global automotive connector market size will climb to 19.452 billion US dollars, while the Chinese automotive connector market is expected to occupy 23% of the market share, with a market size of approximately 4.468 billion US dollars.
Based on in-depth research on the development trends of China's automotive industry and its existing advantages in the automotive connector market, Aptiv PLC has set an ambitious goal in early 2024: to achieve a 50% business growth in China within the next five years. To this end, Aptiv PLC has taken a series of measures:
In August, its research and development center successfully settled in Changshu High tech Zone. The number of Aptiv PLC China Technology Centers has increased to 3;
In October, Aptiv PLC announced an investment of approximately RMB 570 million in MAXIEYE, a local intelligent driving technology company in China;
